Has Bali been ‘done’?

Has Bali been done? Not by a long shot. Let me show you how to (re)discover the magic of this land, it’s people and more importantly… their language.

See, some think that Bali (and a lot of other majorly popular travel destinations like it) has somehow become too expensive, too popular, or too whatever. That Bali has been ‘done’, and it’s time to move on. To a certain extent this is of course true, as we all know: just take a stroll along the highly polluted beaches around Kuta and you’d be forgiven for thinking that this is a place to give a miss.

What’s good about Bali though is that there is still a lot of choice.

We can all make up our own minds and follow our own preferences. If you want to party till you drop, walk along those rubbish-lined shores, grab some cheap clothes, then head home, well, all power to you. This is just what many are content doing. Take a look just a bit further beyond though, and many pleasant surprises await. And if you venture even further from the crowded south of the island, the rewards increase exponentially. For an example, see the blog on Pemuteran.

Here’s a couple of contrasting points of view. First, Bali declares garbage emergency, then 7 reasons Bali is better than ever. Enjoy!
